There have been some good—and some not so good—movie remakes. Al Pacino’s Scarface (1983) is the only movie with that title that many people know. Howard Hawks’ Scarface (1932) was the original version—minus the Cuban and Miami and drug connections.
A great western, 3:10 to Yuma (1957) was made even better with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale in 2007. The original Ocean’s 11 (1960) was more of a novelty movie with Sinatra, Martin, et. al than a serious movie with a tightly scripted film. The remake, Ocean’s Eleven (2001), directed by Steven Soderbergh, was a better film, more entertaining, and gave rise to Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).
The original Cape Fear (1962) was better than Martin Scorcese’s remake (1991) and much, much better than the nearly unwatchable 2026 series on Apple TV. The original was the best because Robert Mitchum (one of the coolest guys of all time) was at his cool badness in the original.
Speaking of Martin Scorcese, his version of The Departed (2006) follows closely to the 2002 Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs—not an actual remake but close enough.
And so that brings us to the remake for How to Build the Perfect Body. This video was put together a few years ago. I was so uncomfortable in front of the camera that I had to use a PowerPoint presentation with an audio track. I don’t remember the exact year. But it’s time for a remake.
The video is posted below. Please watch it. When I say “remake” I mean the video needs to be recast. Once you watch it, you’ll understand what is meant by “recast”.
